In response to the call issued by Internationales LiteraturFestival Berlin for worldwide readings on September 29, La Macchina Sognante and The Dreaming Machine with the generous hospitality of Libreria Ubik- Irnerio organized an evening of bilingual (Italian and English) readings from his works in his honor., with an introduction by Prof. Silvia Albertazzi from the Foreign Languages and Literatures Department of the University of Bologna who was the first academic to introduce his work in Italy and has maintained active interactions with the author over the years
It was a successful event in terms of exposure of all different genres Salman Rushdie has devoted his creative energies and critical spirit to over the decades. The books we read excerpt from included Midnight’s Children, The Satanic Verses, Joseph Anton, Fury, Imaginary Homelands and his speech Is Nothing Sacred?
The bilingual readings were performed by Maria Luisa Vezzali, Zack Rogow, Bartolomeo Bellanova, Lance Henson, Marinette Pendola, Walter Valeri, Aritra Sanyal, Sana Darghmouni Pina Piccolo, Gaius Tsaamo
